Whale Rock Addition

This bright, airy, modern kitchen is a 12 X 16 addition to a 1960's split level home. New ash floors were stained white and carried throughout the house to lighten the space. Lower cabinets are natural cherry and uppers are painted white. Aged brass lighting and a diamond plate splash behind the stove add a metallic sheen to the room. This entire space is tied together with the white Corian countertops and penny tile backsplash.  

Lakefront Addition and Renovation

This clean and minimal addition/renovation features state-of-the-art appliances including a white enamel stove from Italy, quartz countertops, and white & walnut cabinets. Wide board oak floors and stainless steel appliances tie all elements together. This remodel features a fresh dining area, small breakfast bar, and substantial storage that can fit all types of kitchenware while maintaining a clean look.  Designed for entertaining, this renovation also includes a coffee bar and a wine bar.

New Ocean Front Cottage

Initially a run-down, single story, non-winterized house, this now three-story shingle style cottage maximizes the use of space and highlights the stunning ocean views. With a clean coastal style, this home is a seamless marriage of a traditional exterior with a modern interior. The kitchen boasts a clean finish and hardwood accents perfect for entertaining. The master bath features a freestanding tub, shower, and ample storage resulting in a spa that is perfect for relaxation. With minimal white features and hardwood accents, this space feels elegant and homey.

Springdale House

New construction designed to fit into the desert surroundings of nearby Zion National Park. Colors were chosen intentionally with the goal of blending with the scenery, and local materials were used whenever possible. The large open floor plan was designed to compliment the natural surroundings as well. Throughout the house windows have been placed to take primary advantage of the fantastic views (as pictured in the luxurious master bath).


West Bay Renovation

This 1980's contemporary house renovation included an update of the entire first floor. The project included install of all new hickory hardwood floors and a combination of dark gray stained hickory and white cabinets. The kitchen features handmade backsplash tile in a herringbone pattern and custom stainless steel range hood. The great room boasts new beams, whitewashed poplar shiplap on the ceiling, and custom built in shelving to display the homeowner's collection of antique copper vessels and modern ceramics. Two matching sectional sofas around a handmade walnut coffee table complete this cozy space. All new lighting throughout.

West View Addition and Renovation

Renovation and addition to 1930's cottage in coastal Connecticut. The homeowners are empty nesters persuing painting, gardening and cooking. The original plan consisted of all closed rooms on the first floor. We opened the house to have clear sight lines from the front door all the way to the kitchen.

Saunderstown Cottage

This Rhode Island beach house boasts a cottage-style kitchen, with a centerpiece of a 9 foot island built of new and reclaimed wood. The mosaic above the range hood was made by a local artist while the painting is a family heirloom. Countertops are oiled Vermont soapstone. The fireplace surround is made of locally found scallop shells.

Stonington Modern Update

This 1970's modern home has been recently updated. New built in cabinets and display, new mantel and fireplace surround and all new furnishings have brought the room back to life. The serene color palette was inspired by the rug from artist Rex Ray. 

Exterior of New England shingle home

The interior and exterior of this addition blend perfectly with the preexisting shingle style home. A double-sided stone fireplace which bridges the family room and the patio now serves as the centerpiece for both the indoor and outdoor spaces of this house. The new family room includes a built-in window seat, stone fireplace, and kitchen pass through. The new and enlarged kitchen (which was more than doubled in size upon project completion) features a granite island and copper farmhouse sink.

This 1920's home was modernized for a young family but retains traditional style. The living room and bath were refurnished to compliment the decade in which the house was built. The fully remodeled basement now serves as a family and play room and was designed to integrate the support columns of the home while maximizing function and style.

Narragansett Beach House

This coastal Rhode Island beach house was designed to compliment the site's exquisite scenery. Highlights include the poplar ceiling, a stainless cable staircase, and ceramic tile flooring throughout the first floor. The kitchen boasts Wolf appliances, mother of pearl quartzite countertops, natural stone backsplash, and a hand built dining table positioned dramatically against the seascape backdrop.

I’ve always dreamed of having a clean, modernist home, and I’m happy to say that Alice and her team at Atelier Cohen led the way to making that dream a reality!
